Hey, everyone! Did your Knit In Public Day plans turn out???? I am afraid that mine did not. I had planned to go and sit somewhere very public, and knit my hands off, but, you know what they say about "best laid plans". I have two deadlines this week. One-my backyard will shortly be "enhanced"- with a new fence (underway) and a large above ground pool with all of the decking and such that camouflage the fact that it is above ground. And I have been called into service to "hold this" or "write that down" or "where did that go?" (Is it not amazing that once you get married, your husband immediately assumes that a uterus must be some kind of homing device, and that a woman must immediately know what he did with this little slip of a scrap of paper, that he wrote something way way important on. maybe two-no, three-months ago. And also where he put his watch) So that kept me busy. The second major thing-I have report cards due-this week-and I am also taking my class on an overnight trip this week-yeah, I know, bad planning-anyhow, I need to get them done, out of the way.So I have been marking papers, and chasing down assignments, and writing up reports. I always stress out about these report cards, because I worry about being totally accurate, with enough to back up my opinion of a child's progress.
So, my KIP plans bit the dust.
But what did YOU do? Let me know, and the most interesting one will find something sent to them! (no, no-not nasty-it'll be nice-from my stash) Leave me a message, or an email (see last blog entry for address). Or hey-tell me why you didn't get to KIP-maybe THAT will win?
Cheers-

Well, I though mine was going to be a bust b/c Troy's step son had him out all morning and afternoon for is birthday yesterday, but we decided that going to sing karoke would be fun last night, so I knit in a bar and sang some horrible songs.
I got one of our guy friends to get up and sing I'm Too Sexy.
I TOO DID NOT GET TO KIP. OUR SON-IN-LAW LEAVES TO GO BACK TO IRAQ NEXT WEEK SO WE TOOK THE WHOLE FAMILY OUT TO DINNER AND SPENT THE DAY WITH THEM...MAYBE NEXT YEAR.
KNIT WIT
AKA JAN
Knittin gin public did happen. along with some knitting related photos for a scavenger hunt a bunch of my friends and I are doing. No scavenger hunt pics up yet. The "competition" isn't over till tonight. Then I will be posting a selection...
Are you taking international entries?
I left a message on a woman's blog who I knew lived in the same city as I do but whom I'd never had any contact with, asking if she would be knitting in public on June 9 because if she was I could join her. It was market day and she was doing something else at the market but said she'd be knitting anyway if I wanted to join her. So I went and we knitted for a while but it was too hot for me to be out in the sun without a hat (which I forgot) so I had to go. We were the only knitters but I expected that. Only one person asked about our knitting and he asked if we were having a knitting competition.
I knit in public at the lake. A going away party for our Rotary exchange lad was the opportunity. Darn, but Jen of my LYS chose yesterday to get married. Unfortunately, it rained and blew most of the day. We were under a roof, so it was fine.
Next year perhaps we will have a more public KIP!
I had planned to go down town and sit on a bench and knit - again best laid plans had to be changed due to rain and wind!
I knitted when my fiancee and I went out for lunch as this very cool snadwich wrap place in town. Then later we hung out with a bunch of friends at Starbucks (when we do this we are there for multiple hours) and while I was knitting, I greeted everyone who came in with excited shrieks of "Happy Knit in Public Day!" I got alot of weird looks, and even a couple "Happy Knit in Public Day to you too". A couple of people probably thought I was special...
It was a good day!
I totally missed KIP day too. Oh well, there's always another year another day. Do we get "make up days"? grin
KIP day was spent at home. We have a recuperating kitty and he needed us around more than the public did. Bubba is doing fine and getting around pretty well.
I'm going to post about my KIPing a little later today. It was only semi-public and isn't THAT exiciting a story but I tried...
I went to our annual garden party also knoonw as KIP.day, very nive 17 members attended, we arrived at 10 and left at 3,00 we all took our own lunch . I won the golden fleece award and the challenge award, the challenge was to challenge ourselves to knit something, mine was lace scarf.
weather was beautiful/ ruby
I knit at work. That counts, right?
